Artist Statement

My work is a celebration of the energy exhibited in nature, animated by the belief that nature is telling us something with its own expressive vocabulary of lines, shapes, textures and colors. In every weather-worn remnant, there is a narrative—and lessons to be learned.

The drawings, pulp paintings and sculptures I produce are my way of tapping into that energy, raising my awareness of the natural world.

The rituals of drawing and erasing, cooking and beating fiber, concealing and revealing imagery, form and text, connect me with a host of questions about the presence and absence of life and how it relates to our own fragile stories.
