For the student or beginner who wants to experiment with Asian-style papermaking but isn't ready to invest in the higher priced fiber, this unscraped kozo bark is a good option. It is harvested locally from the same species of paper mulberry trees [Broussonetia papyrifera] but because of the soil or other influences [growing in shade], it is slightly different in color and characteristics. With that said, it makes a beautiful paper.
